Don't Poo-poo This
The tummy-troubled Nuclear Boy, created to explain Japan's nuclear accident to kids, becomes a YouTube hit.
Call it toilet humour, if you will. But a cartoon explaining Japan’s nuclear crisis to children – and drawing analogies between the release of radioactive particles and farting – has become an instant internet hit. Having received over a million views on YouTube, the cartoon has the narrator explaining the sick Nuclear Boy – representing the beleaguered Fukushima – needs boron and seawater for medication. Tokyo-based artist Hachiya Kazuhiko’s characters go on to explain that some years before, ‘Chernobyl Boy’ had a severe case of diarrhea.
But Japan’s Nuclear Boy, says the narrator, would hopefully be able to keep his diapers on.
